Froggy! A Pond Full of Pals
Comedy | All Ages
Froggy is just a small, slimy guy trying to navigate the big wide pond, and there’s no end of sticky situations for him to get caught up in this young comic!
A small pond like any other lies in the forest, but dwelling in this pond is no ordinary Froggy. He’s a little bit of a klutz, and making friends with local wizards, falling foul of picnicking humans, and befriending giant fish are all in a day’s work for this slimy guy. Learning how to deal with big feelings, big magic spells, and big fish in the big world can be a lot for a little frog, but he’s not giving up any time soon.
“This offbeat graphic novel by Walshe follows young Froggy, a lovable and clumsy amphibian with a big heart and even bigger feelings, as he experiences moments of loneliness, wonder, frustration. and joy across a series of bravery-inspiring and connection-inciting events. […] Fluid and vibrantly colorful jewel-toned illustrations enhance the plucky, positive spirit of this series-starting adventure that feels like a splash of refreshing water on a hot summer’s day.”
— Publisher’s Weekly
“Soft but vibrant colors, rounded figure design, and lots of entertaining background details in the large panels give this abundant appeal for repeat reads, and the gentle lesson about bravery in the face of new things is a great one for the target age group.”
— Jonathan Khan, Booklist
“Finding your pond-mates and growing with them is the big adventure we all need . That is the gentle and wonderful lesson of Froggy.”
— Isabelle Melançon, artist of ‘Namesake’ and author of ‘Crow Time’
“[…]Its delightful art is what will make you open the book, but its sense of humor and storytelling are what will keep you reading […] If you want to read–alone or in the company of your little ones–a book made with love, this is it. Just open any page: you won’t need anything else to be convinced.”
— Maripaz Villar, creator of ‘Miss Abbott and the Doctor’ and ‘Lady Liar’
